R&D Engineer Medical (m/f/d)


For our business unit Health and Medical Solutions we are now looking for an R&D Engineer (m/f/d) for our JOBST brand in the Therapeutic Area Compression. The position is a permanent, full-time role in Hamburg. We're looking for people who embody our values, aren't afraid to challenge, innovate, experiment, and move at a fast pace. What You Will Do

  • Support the development of new or existing products as the product expert in innovation projects
  • Main responsibility in projects/ activities is to lead the design / development of a product solution (based on business and technical constraints) maximizing product superiority
  • Responsible to define or upgrade the technical requirement specification, considering e.g regulatory, patents, product safety and manufacturability
  • Responsible for establishing finished goods specifications for the verified and validated design solution and relevant handover
  • Stay up to date on market needs, behaviour and usage pattern as well as relevant end-user or customer insights, brand platforms, category and business needs
  • Support in monitoring Essity's and competitors’ products as well as product trends in the industry
  • Lead and/or participate in R&D enabling projects/activities to improve state of readiness for future Innovation
  • Drive and/or participate in assigned patent watch teams to secure oppositions and identify patent trends
  • Actively drive work in projects to protect solutions with patent filings
  • Responsible for translating end-user or customer needs to product functions and design parameters/technical solutions

Who You Are

  • Academic degree in one of the following disciplines: textile engineering, medical technology, mechanical engineering or similar
  • 3-5 years of experience in specification, development and verification
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory standards (ISO 60601, IEC 62366)
  • Data analysis skills for statistical evaluation
  • Knowledge in Biomechanics
  • Programming Skills ideally in Matlab, VBA, or similar
  • Fluent English
  • Project management skills
  • Team player
  • Sense of urgency
  • Having a structured mindset and ability for analytical thinking
  • Proactive and hands on mentality
